Thyroid Medication
The thyroid is a tiny gland that plays a huge role in how our body functions. We often have symptoms of a hyper or hypoactive thyroid without even realizing it. Hypothyroidism, being the most common, affects millions of Americans. A healthy thyroid produces the perfect amount of two hormones, T3 and T4, which regulate our metabolism and, in turn, affect lots of other organs in our body. Sometimes commercially available thyroid medications do not work for the specific needs of the patient. At John’s Pharmacy, we work directly with health care providers when compounding medications for the thyroid so that we can customize those medications for each individual patient. We also work with the provider in monitoring the effectiveness of the therapy and adjusting as needed to achieve the optimal results.
Some signs that the thyroid may not be functioning properly include but are not limited to:
- Fatigue
- Depression
- Weakness
- Constipation
- Muscle Cramps/Aches
- Weight Gain or Difficulty Losing Weight
- Abnormal Menstrual Cycles
- Irritability
- Hair Loss
- Memory Loss
- Skin Issues
- Decreased Sex Drive
- Extreme Intolerance of Cold Temperatures
